We ran a fund-raiser for our local fishing club by having a fish a thon. people collected pledges for cumulative inches of fish caught over a weekend. We all kept records of the fish we caught (we measured them before putting them back in the water). Then we collected the pledges - just like a walk a thon but fishing. 47 anglers participated and raised $32,250 in the two day event. We even had some local businesses donate prizes for the top anglers. Very Happy

Post New Idea
Hey, thats a great idea! I like the fishathon. Might try it.

Have you thought about using something that the parents might enjoy purchasing and that the kids would enjoy selling? My team used coffee products from a unique coffee company in Atlanta called Kaffetico. They provide gourmet estate coffees from Costa Rica. The nice twist is that all of thier products are branded with cute little creatures from the rainforests of Costa Rica and a portion of the proceeds are donated to support the endangered species on the coffee bag. So, the parents get to purchase a product they will actually enjoy consuming and the kids are supporting a great cause while raising money for thier organization. You can check out thier coffee at . You make about $3 to $4 per bag so the net funds per sale are great.
